time to shine

hey guys i was just wondering what kind of wax you use to make your cars shine. i can get a hold of turtle ice wax and clay bar kit from the local coop... good brand or not? also i have a couple little scatches and some swirl marks i wanna get rid of. i have never waxed a car before so some tips would be awesome. my dad has a 10" buffer that he bought and never used would it be faster to use it or would it be a bad idea??
