Apple; it's got one button... how can you fuck that up?
But seriously, I hate all things Apple... and for many reasons.

Re: New from apple...
yeah i dont like apple too much myself. Overpriced, and mainstream. The only thing that is worse than apples is the attitude that they give their owners haha. They think that their macbook is better than any other laptop.

Re: New from apple...
I think the macbook is pretty awesome! I think they do a pretty good job with making a great all round package. The UI is very clean which I like. I have a second gen macbook (white) and it has been great since day one, same with my iPhone. I, although feel that I have turned into quite a fanboy but I do still see the purpose of PC's to a point. Oh and btw... the magic mouse is the best mouse I have used so far!
As far as the iPad goes... the name could be better but I think that it does the job that people are looking for in a device like this. I would think of this as more of a Kindle on steroids since it is about that form factor but has a lot more features/benefits.

Re: New from apple...
The iPad is useless, but yet will sell millions as it has a partially eaten apple on it and many do not care about functionality or price, and just want to own it to say they do.
It's running a phone OS, which can't multi-task... or for that matter, run ANY software application that is designed to be used on a Tablet.. like you know, Illustrator/CorelDRAW/Photoshop/etc.
64GB max? How useless is that for something that is in the computer market? What is this, 2001?
This is nothing more than an iPod Touch XL.
The two things from the press conference that pissed me off more than anything where these comments, and here's why:
"The best web browsing experience, ever"... right, except the fact that you can't display Flash items on it, which is kind of needed for a good web browser.
And the blurb about it being an e-reader. Sorry, it's not. Unless it can magically transform it's LCD display into an e-ink display, it's not an e-reader. As if it is an e-reader, then every computer made since Windows 3.1 is an e-reader, which makes that feature 100% pointless.
I honestly thought the Macbook Air was the pinnacle of useless computers that are overpriced, but Apple one-upped themselves with this product. Bravo I say, bravo.

Re: New from apple...
Dang you rory and your pro-apple ways! haha
And the reason why it has such a small capacity is becasue the disk is solid state. This type of drive has not yet been developed to be economically priced at high capacities (>64GB). But since it has no moving parts its a lot more forgiving to the sudden movements and falls portable devices are prone to.

Re: New from apple...
I've done the pc thing. It's alright. The only thing I use windows for is is my solid modeling program so I have a small partition on my mac with boot camp to run it when I need it. I just like how most everything works together well and not a lot of hassle getting things working. Yes, it's more expensive, but I like how they look and function. Each to their own I suppose.

Solid Edge... I've had it for a while. It's an older version that we got at university (student copy). We got to keep it. It comes in handy sometimes.

That was my main reason back in the day for not buying a mac... I run too much 'Win only' software to ever switch.
Unless Autodesk (Inventor / AutoCAD), Dessault (Solidworks), ANSYS, and Bentley all switch, I won't.
Now days, if I want a *nix OS, I'll either build a 'Mac comparable' PC (for 1/4 the price) and load OSX on it... or take the sensible route and run Linux.

Yeah completely true.. I tried the OSX on PC and it worked great, justhave to follow the list of compatible hardware... oh and my Linux Laptop boots from a dead stop in 10-12seconds. And here is the thing, the laptop cost me only $100 (2.4GHZ Dual Core, bought from my sister) and linux cost me about $0.15 (the cost of the time it took to download the FREE copy from the internet)
