Re: Ion Redline Intake?
yeah you could do that, but all the people i talked to with there cobalts and ions always got the k&n cold air intake, thats what i got on order. They say it works the best. but i haven't read that much about the secret weapon intake.

Lastnight i hit a solid 14 psi but in the summer we'd maybe hit 12. Counts on mods etc.

Re: Ion Redline Intake?
The Weapon R was a rather large topic on the RLF. If I remember correctly, the overall end decision was that it was overpriced, and if used for drag racing harmed more the helped.
Most people stick to the AEM or the K&N if doing a full intake swap. The most popular is probably just replacing the stock filter with a K&N one and then removing the silencer

Re: Ion Redline Intake?
The K&N CAI does improve power, I have dyno tested it on Scotts redline, however, like any intake the MAF has to be scaled properly to the increased air flow. Of the 2 redlines I have seen with the K&N, airflow improved by about 6% with changes up to 12% in STFT's. Not only that , it looks alot better, gives you alot more room in the engine compartment and lets the sexy sound of the supercharger be heard.

Mikes talking about tuning the intake with the increase airflow to give you more power.

So your saying that i just do the K&N filter? How do you remove the silencer?
Re: Ion Redline Intake?
Take it off lol It's the part hat looks like it has a bag wrapped around it in the bottom corner of the intake path AFTER the air box.
Though be warned, if you take it off the lowest point of your intake is the bottom of your front bumper, making it super easy for water and debris to get in it. Unless you replace it with something.
If you just want more flow and a re-usable filter, get the K&N drop in. If you want it to scream get the AEM or K&N Typhoon. I wouldn't recommend removing the silencer in our climate.

Re: Ion Redline Intake?
its a pain in the ass to remove the lower air cleaner section of the Ion's intake but we took it out of Scott's car as well, gives you alot more room to work and looks alot cleaner.
